FAQ & Library Policies

Everything you need to know about using the ACU Library. By using our library, you agree to follow all ACU Library policies.

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions about using the library.

Most books (General and Storage items) can be borrowed for 21 days. CDs, DVDs, and videos have a 7-day checkout period. Some items like manipulatives (3 days) and reserve items (24 hours or 2 hours) have shorter loan periods. Faculty and staff checkouts are automatically renewed as a courtesy.
Late fees vary by item type. General items and AV materials are $0.15 per day (max $5 per item). Reserve items and manipulatives are $1 per day (max $5 per item). Student fees are capped at $5 per semester. Faculty and staff fees are typically waived. Borrowing privileges are suspended at $5 or more in unpaid fees.
Meals must be eaten outside the library. Small snacks that are odorless, quiet, and non-messy may be eaten in the Low Volume Zone and Collab Zone (not in the Quiet Study Zone). All drinks must have a spill-resistant lid. Please clean up after yourself to help us maintain a comfortable study environment.
Library computers are primarily for research and academic work. Appropriate uses include searching databases, writing papers, accessing Populi/Canvas, and job searching. Please avoid using them for entertainment (videos, games, social media) or personal business, especially during busy times.
Please report any damage to library staff right away—sometimes we can repair items ourselves. For lost or damaged items beyond repair, you'll be charged a $5 processing fee plus the item's cost (minimum $25 total per item). If you return a lost item later, you'll only owe the late fees. No refunds are given after 8 weeks or once we've replaced the item.
Yes! The ACU Library welcomes visitors. Upon arrival, please show a photo ID at the service desk. Visitors may use computers at the long tables (not cubicles) for up to 2 hours per day, access the ACU-Guest Wi-Fi, and use most study areas. Printing is not available for visitors, and certain borrowing privileges are limited.
Printing is available for current ACU students only (black-and-white, generally under 25 pages for ACU-related work). Library staff can help with double-sided printing or printing specific pages. Scanning to PDF is available for all patrons—just ask staff to enter the code on the copier. All scanning must comply with copyright law.
Keep your belongings with you at all times—the library is not responsible for lost or stolen items. Don't use personal items to reserve study spaces. Items left unattended for more than 15 minutes may be moved to lost-and-found or Campus Safety. Scooters, skateboards, and cords should not create trip hazards.
