ACU Falls to Warner Pacific
Glendale, Ariz. – Arizona Christian generated plenty of offensive opportunities Saturday morning, but Warner Pacific capitalized on two scoring chances to hand the Firestorm a 2-0 defeat at ACU Soccer Field.

- The Knights struck early, taking a 1-0 lead in the eighth minute when Ethan Zavala found the back of the net.
- Despite the early deficit, the Firestorm settled into the match and began creating opportunities of their own.
- Josh Flanagan recorded ACU’s first shot on goal in the 27th minute, but Warner Pacific goalkeeper Jonathan Flores made the save to preserve the lead heading into halftime.
- The Firestorm came out aggressively in the second half, outshooting the Knights 13-8 over the final 45 minutes and finishing the contest even in total shots at 14 apiece.
- ACU also held a 6-4 advantage in corner kicks as they searched for the equalizer.
- Raul Aranda paced the ACU attack with a team-high six shots, including four on target, while Flanagan added a shot on goal off the bench.
- ACU’s Caleb Anderson contributed two shots, and Isaac Blanco, Logan Johnson, Alexander Menolascina, and Sammy Kopalyan each recorded one attempt.

“Our guys played a great game today. They battled through adversity and I thought had the better of the play throughout. Credit to WPU for how hard they competed and their attitude. They are a top 25 team for a reason. They had some incredible blocks and defensive stands on the goal line and were clinical when they needed to be. With that being said I thought our guys deserved more from this game – they stayed true to our identity and created multiple high quality chances. We had incredible performances from the collective group and we showed what we are capable of doing against another high quality team. I am excited about the group we have – we are going to keep moving and building on this.”
