About This Program

Why do people think, feel, and act the way they do? ACU’s Psychology degree takes that question seriously, grounding you in the science of the mind and behavior — from neuroscience and cognition to personality, development, and abnormal psychology. You’ll learn to read research, run studies, and understand people with both rigor and compassion.

The 38-credit psychology core is hands-on and research-driven. You’ll work through statistics, two research-methods courses, and a neuroscience lab, then bring it together in a senior Psychology Capstone. Along the way you can focus your degree with a concentration in Counseling, Industrial and Organizational Psychology, or Sport Psychology — or keep it broad with general psychology electives.

Because this is a Christian university, you’ll study psychology alongside a Biblical Worldview that takes human dignity, the mind-body relationship, and the reality of suffering seriously. You’ll graduate ready for graduate study or for people-centered careers — and prepared to help others flourish.

Psychology Through a Biblical Worldview

Psychology and a Biblical Worldview both ask what it means to be human. At ACU, they're studied together — the science taken seriously, and framed by a deeper account of persons.

What a Person Is

Psychology describes how people think and behave; a Biblical Worldview adds why people matter — each one an image-bearer with inherent dignity. That conviction shapes how you study, diagnose, and help.

Grounds your work with people in dignity, not just diagnosis.

Mind, Body, and Soul

Neuroscience shows how deeply mind and body are connected. A Biblical Worldview holds that together with the reality of the soul, resisting both pure materialism and a denial of the physical.

Equips you to treat people as whole persons, body and inner life together.

Suffering and Healing

Mental illness and suffering are real, not signs of weak faith. Scripture takes suffering seriously and points toward healing and hope — a posture that shapes compassionate, honest care.

Prepares you to sit with suffering without minimizing it or rushing past it.
