About This Program

Communication runs everything — careers, relationships, organizations, movements. ACU’s Communication degree builds the skills to do it well across every channel: speaking and writing, multimedia production, journalism, public relations, persuasion, and film. You’ll learn both the craft and the theory behind how messages actually move people.

The 39-credit major spans the field, from interpersonal communication and communication theory to journalism, multimedia production, and public relations. A required internship puts you in a real workplace before you graduate, and courses in communication ethics and redemptive narratives in film push you to think about not just how to communicate, but why and to what end. You’ll finish with a Communication Capstone that brings it together.

Throughout, a Biblical Worldview frames communication as more than technique — it’s how image-bearers connect, persuade, and tell the truth. You’ll graduate ready for careers in media, PR, marketing, journalism, ministry communication, and beyond.

Communication Through a Biblical Worldview

Communication is never neutral — it can build up or tear down, reveal truth or distort it. A Biblical Worldview shapes how you wield that power.

The Weight of Words

Scripture takes words seriously — God speaks creation into being, and Jesus is called the Word. Communication carries real power to create, harm, and heal, which makes the craft a responsibility, not just a skill.

Grounds your communication in the conviction that words matter.

Truth-Telling and Ethics

Persuasion can inform or manipulate. A commitment to truth draws the line — representing reality honestly even when spin would be easier. That's why communication ethics is built into the major.

Forms a communicator people can trust.

Communication as Connection

At its heart, communication is how image-bearers connect and understand one another. Seeing it that way reframes the work from manipulation toward genuine relationship and service.

Anchors your communication in respect for the people on the other end.
