Washburn And Betancourt Named PCSC Athletes of the Week
Glendale, Ariz.- After sizzling starts to their Arizona Christian careers, Freshmen Audrey Washburn and Edgar Betancourt won Pacific Conference Swim Conference Athlete of the Week honors. Washburn was named the Female Swimmer of the Week while Betancourt was selected as the Male Freshman of the Week.
Washburn, from Apache Junction, AZ, claimed two first place wins in her first collegiate meet. She collected wins in the 100 Breast (1:10.49) and 200 IM (2:16.81). Washburn also swam in two relays helping the Firestorm claim second in the 200 Medley Relay.
Betancourt, out of Mexico, established new Arizona Christian records in his collegiate debut as he swam 1:58.02 in the 200 Fly and 4:55.08 in the 500 Free. Betancourt was also part of two relay swims highlighted by anchoring the 200 Medley Relay.
