  For the purposes of the GDPR, the Company is the Data Controller.

• Consumer, for the purpose of the CCPA/CPRA, means a natural person who is a California resident. A resident, as defined in the law, includes (1) every individual who is in the USA for other than a temporary or transitory purpose, and (2) every individual who is domiciled in the USA who is outside the USA for a temporary or transitory purpose.

• Data Controller, for the purposes of the GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation), refers to the Company as the legal person which alone or jointly with others determines the purposes and means of the processing of Personal Data.

• Facebook Fan Page is a public profile named Arizona Christian University specifically created by the Company on the Facebook social network, accessible from https://www.facebook.com/arizonachristianuniversity
• GDPR refers to EU General Data Protection Regulation.
• Personal Data (or “Personal Information”) is any information that relates to an identified or identifiable individual.

  For the purposes of GDPR, Personal Data means any information relating to You such as a name, an identification number, location data, online identifier or to one or more factors specific to the physical, physiological, genetic, mental, economic, cultural or social identity.

  For the purposes of the CCPA/CPRA, Personal Data means any information that identifies, relates to, describes or is capable of being associated with, or could reasonably be linked, directly or indirectly, with You.

  We use “Personal Data” and “Personal Information” interchangeably unless a law uses a specific term.

• Service refers to the Website.
• Service Provider means any natural or legal person who processes the data on behalf of the Company. Retention of Your Personal Data

The Company will retain Your Personal Data only for as long as is necessary for the purposes set out in this Privacy Policy.   • Support tickets and correspondence: up to 24 months from the date of ticket closure to resolve follow-up inquiries, track service quality, and defend against potential legal claims
  • Chat transcripts: up to 24 months for quality assurance and staff training purposes.
• Usage Data
  • Website analytics data (cookies, IP addresses, device identifiers): up to 24 months from the date of collection, which allows us to analyze trends while respecting privacy principles.
  • Server logs (IP addresses, access times): up to 24 months for security monitoring and troubleshooting purposes.
• Marketing Data
  • Email Marketing: retained until you unsubscribe or up to 24 months from your last engagement (last email opened or clicked), whichever comes first.
  • Advertising identifiers and profiles: up to 24 months from last interaction or until you opt-out, whichever comes first.
• Financial and Transaction Data
  • Payment information: credit/debit card details are not stored on Our servers; they are processed by our Payment Service Providers. We retain transaction records (invoice details, purchase history, amounts) for up to 10 years from the date of transaction to comply with tax laws and financial regulations.
  • Billing and invoice records: up to 10 years to meet accounting and tax compliance requirements.

Usage Data is retained in accordance with the retention periods described above, and may be retained longer only where necessary for security, fraud prevention, or legal compliance.

We may retain Personal Data beyond the periods stated above for different reasons:

• Legal obligation: We are required by law to retain specific data (e.g., financial records for tax authorities).
• Legal claims: Data is necessary to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.
• Your explicit request: You ask Us to retain specific information.
• Technical limitations: Data exists in backup systems that are scheduled for routine deletion.

When retention periods expire, We securely delete or anonymize Personal Data according to the following procedures:

Campus traffic segmentation. We use Your IP address to classify each visit as “internal” (originating from a University campus network) or “external” (all other visitors), and We attach that classification to Our analytics data. We use it to separate on-campus use of the Website by current students and employees from visits by prospective students and the public, so that Our reporting is accurate and Our advertising audiences are built from external traffic rather than from the campus community.

Recruitment and Engagement Analytics

We use a recruitment analytics Service Provider to understand how prospective students engage with Our Website and Our recruiting communications, and to personalize Our outreach.

• Capture Higher Ed (Capture Behavioral Engine)

  The Capture Behavioral Engine (“CBE”) is a recruitment analytics and engagement service provided by Capture Higher Ed, Inc.

  CBE places a cookie that recognizes Your browser and records the pages You visit on Our Website. If You click a tracked link in a recruiting email We send You, or submit an inquiry or application form, CBE may link Your browsing activity on Our Website — including prior visits from the same browser — to Your contact record in Our admissions systems. We may use this information to understand Your interests, score Your level of engagement with ACU, and tailor the recruiting communications You receive.

  CBE loads only after You accept Marketing cookies through Our cookie banner. You can prevent or stop this identification by declining or withdrawing Marketing consent in Our cookie banner, and You may contact Us to request deletion of engagement data linked to You.
