BIB 304: Theology
An introduction to Christian theology — Bible, God, Christ, salvation, Spirit, church, last things.
Course Description
BIB 304 introduces students to the practice of Christian theology — what it is, how it's done, and why it matters. The course focuses on the doctrines that sit closest to the center: the doctrine of Scripture, the doctrine of God, the person and work of Jesus Christ, and salvation.
From there it offers a working introduction to the doctrines of the Holy Spirit, the church, and the last things. Students learn to discover theology within the biblical text — not to import it from somewhere else — and to apply the doctrines they study to everyday life and church practice.

Learning Outcomes
Define Theology and Its Method
Describe what theology is, how it's done, and what it's for.
Survey Core Doctrines
Work through the doctrines of Bible, God, Christ, and salvation in depth.
Introduce Wider Doctrines
Engage the doctrines of Holy Spirit, church, and last things at a working level.
Read Theology in Scripture
Discover doctrinal truths within biblical texts rather than imposing them from outside.
Apply Theology to Life
Translate doctrine into church practice, personal devotion, and daily decisions.
Biblical Worldview Connection
Theology done well is the natural outgrowth of taking Scripture seriously. A Biblical Worldview treats doctrine not as abstract speculation but as faithful reflection on what God has actually said — which makes theology a tool for living, not just a subject to know. BIB 304 keeps that orientation throughout.
