Organic Chemistry I Lab

The first-semester course for students needing a full year of organic chemistry. Discusses the chemistry of saturated and unsaturated hydrocarbons and their derivatives, syntheses, nomenclature, reactions, mechanisms, stereochemistry and uses. Laboratory emphasizes the techniques associated with the synthesis, isolation, purification, and identification of organic compounds by physical properties, IR and NMR spectral analyses. Lab fee required.
