Systematic worldview training to read culture clearly and engage it from a biblical perspective.
LIA 102 is ACU's foundational worldview course, required of all students and a core piece of the Certificate in Biblical Studies. The course is built around systematic worldview training designed to help students discern and understand contemporary U.S. culture from a biblical perspective.
You'll examine the major worldviews competing for shape of public life today, then apply a biblical worldview to current questions of gender, race, ethnicity, and politics. Along the way, the course introduces several crucial humanities concepts — truth, beauty, goodness, and justice — and develops practical strategies for appreciating, critiquing, and creating culture rather than simply reacting to it.

Identify Major Worldviews
Describe naturalism, postmodernism, secular humanism, and other competing frameworks alongside a biblical worldview.
Analyze Cultural Artifacts
Read films, news, public debates, and other cultural texts through a worldview lens.
Apply a Biblical Framework
Engage contemporary questions of gender, race, ethnicity, and politics from a biblical position.
Distinguish Foundational Concepts
Define and contrast truth, beauty, goodness, and justice as the humanities have understood them.
Develop Engagement Strategies
Move beyond critique to appreciating and creating culture from a biblical worldview.
LIA 102 is the Biblical Worldview course in ACU's curriculum — the integration isn't a side note, it's the whole subject. The class equips students to think and live as worldview-conscious followers of Christ in a pluralistic culture, treating worldview not as an abstract framework but as the lens that shapes every cultural choice.
