The second semester of algebra-based physics — sound, electricity, magnetism, optics, and modern physics.
PHY 112 is the second semester of a two-course algebra-based physics sequence. The course expands on PHY 111 and works through sound waves, electric fields, electric circuits, magnetic fields, optics, and modern physics — the topics most often relevant to biology, chemistry, and pre-health students completing their physics preparation.
The lab explores the concepts and theories presented in class through demonstrations and hands-on experiments, building both the conceptual grasp and the practical skill that physics courses are built to develop. Lab fee required.

Study Sound and Waves
Examine sound waves and their behavior across media.
Work With Electric Fields and Circuits
Apply electrostatic and circuit concepts to physical problems.
Examine Magnetism
Study magnetic fields and their interactions with charges and currents.
Engage Optics
Work through geometric and physical optics — lenses, mirrors, and wave behavior of light.
Preview Modern Physics
Encounter foundational concepts of relativity, quantum mechanics, and atomic physics.
A Biblical Worldview treats the elegant mathematics of electromagnetism, optics, and modern physics as discovery of a created order. PHY 112 completes the physics sequence that any rigorous science career — from research to medicine — assumes.
