Firestorm Fate Sealed by OUAZ Golden Goal

SURPRISE, Ariz. – Despite forcing overtime, the ACU women’s soccer program (2-10-0; 1-6-0 GSAC) would fall in the first overtime period, 2-1 to Ottawa University – Arizona (7-1-1, 6-1-0 GSAC) Monday afternoon on Spirit Field.

 

Series Notes:

 

ACU moves to 1-5-1 after the loss and has lost four-consecutive matches to the Spirit dating back to Oct. 12, 2019.

 

The Game: 

 

The Spirit struck first at 6:13 in the first half and held a lead for much of the opening half.  As the first half neared a close, ACU’s Lesly Perez would tie things up with a goal at 41:53, assisted by Sarahie Torres.  Neither team would score again in regulation, but less than two minutes into overtime, OUAZ’s attack would net the game-winning goal at 91:42 to earn the 2-1 sudden-death victory.
