Morales Selected SAC Offensive Player of the Week
Glendale, Ariz.- On Monday, Junior Shea Morales was selected the SAC Offensive Football Player of the Week after a stellar game against Wayland Baptist on Saturday. The Firestorm quarterback accounted for four touchdowns against the Pioneers.
Morales, out of Carlsbad, CA, completed 23 of 33 passes on his way to 311 passing yards and three touchdowns. Morales also found the end zone with his legs as he ran for another score. With Morales leading the charge, ACU scored a touchdown on their first three drives on their way to scoring the first 42 points in their 42-7 win.
Saturday’s 300 plus yard passing performance for Morales was his second of the season. He has amassed 1,558 yards and ten touchdowns through the air in just six games.
With Monday’s announcement, Morales becomes the third ACU player to win offensive player of the week honors this season. Overall, ACU has won 15 SAC Player of the Week honors in the extended 2020 season.
The win gave the Firestorm a 9-1 overall record and 6-0 SAC record to close out the regular season. Morales and ACU head off to the NAIA Football Championship Series for the first time in program history. For their first postseason game, Arizona Christian will travel across the country to face Keiser in West Palm Beach, FL, on Saturday.
