DeFrancesco Signs With the Lake Erie Crushers

Glendale, AZ – Former Firestorm star reliever Anthony DeFrancesco has signed with the Lake Erie Crushers of the Frontier League (Official Partner League of Major League Baseball).

A transfer from Union College DeFrancesco quickly established himself and became a star reliever for the Firestorm. He was one of the top relievers in the conference last year as he held opponents to a .217 batting average over 22 games while posting a 3.08 ERA with 62 strikeouts and a record of 4-3. He also earned GSAC All-Conference Honors and received a Gold Glove for his excellent defensive skills on the mound. Prior to that he made 12 appearances in his first season posting a 1.59 ERA with 20 strikeouts while holding opponents to a .132 batting average.

On DeFrancesco joining the league Coach McDonald says, “I am so proud of Anthony and this amazing accomplishment to be playing professional baseball.  He had a great 2 years here with us at ACU and was a definite next level arm and talent.  He will do great things!”

So far DeFrancesco has appeared in 6 games for the Crushers pitching a total of 5 innings and striking out 5. The Crushers currently sit in second place in the Central Division with a record of 38-46. The Crushers have 12 games left on the schedule as the regular season concludes on September 12.
