Gallardo, Sonsini receive GSAC Defender of the Week honors
Glendale, Ariz.- ACU Men’s and Women’s Soccer collect both GSAC Defender of the Week awards, as goalkeeper Carlos Gallardo represents the Men and goalkeeper Brenna Sonsini the Women. Each earns their second DOTW honor of the 2023 season.
Gallardo recorded 14 saves across the Firestorm’s two games in Oklahoma last Thursday and Saturday. He performed admirably, especially against #2 Mid-America Christian who attacked in bunches and sent off 11 shots on goal. His save percentage was .824 for the week.
For Sonsini, she saw all 90 minutes of action against Oklahoma City University on Saturday. After a relatively quiet first half (one save), Sonsini made seven saves in the second period to ensure ACU’s 3-1 win. Her save percentage was .889 for the week.
Looking ahead, Men’s Soccer prepares for Ben Mesa at home on Wednesday and Women’s Soccer awaits their first GSAC match against Jessup on September 28th.
