- The Firestorm were hungry for a goal as Edith Delgado found the back of the net for her first goal of the season with just 20 seconds into the half, giving the Firestorm a 1-0 advantage. Krista Hardesty provided the assist on the opening goal.
- The Firestorm continued to compete defensively throughout the second half, with goalkeeper Tayler Wonderly playing a key role between the posts. Wonderly finished the match with eight saves, repeatedly keeping ACU in front as OUAZ applied pressure.
- OUAZ eventually found the equalizer in the 86th minute when Jocelyn Smith scored to bring the match level at 1-1.
