Glendale, Ariz. – Over the course of three days, Arizona Christian men’s and women’s tennis competed in the 2026 NAIA ITA Western Regionals, as Petar Wemmenhove and Toby Frantz won the doubles draw.
ACU hosted the regionals event at Paseo Racquet Center with high temperatures in true Arizona fashion.
Some of the highlights of the weekend include:
Coach Phil Carlisle said, “I’m super proud of our entire team for a great tournament last week. We had some great individual results of course, but overall we had the most wins of any team that participated which is great. I also had multiple coaches and spectators compliment us on our energy and support for each other and I really believe that’s one of the things that separates us from other programs. But we also saw a lot of great players from other teams which gives us good insight into how challenging the conference season will be this year. We have a lot of work to do to be ready for that challenge, but I know our team is excited for that challenge and will be ready for it when the time comes. Also have to give a massive shoutout to Petar and Toby for winning the men’s doubles draw – the third straight regional doubles title for our guys and back-to-back years of having an all-ACU final. I’m excited to see what they can do at the ITA Cup in Georgia in a couple weeks!”
Wemmenhove and Frantz have qualified to compete in the NAIA ITA Cup hosted in Rome, GA on October 16-18. Rasendra and Wood will get a chance at an at-large berth. The tournament will be announced at a later date.
Great job representing ACU fellas! And good luck in Georgia. Roll Storm!
