Introduction to the music industry

Why the Music Technology Concentration

The modern musician is often a producer, engineer, and creator all at once. The Music Technology concentration builds on ACU’s music core to give you real, hands-on command of how recorded music gets made — from tracking and mixing to mastering and the business behind it.

On top of the music major, you’ll add twenty-three credits in music technology: production in Logic Pro, Ableton Live, and Pro Tools, plus mixing and mastering, music production, sound reinforcement systems, creative innovation, and an introduction to the music industry. You’ll choose technology electives that fit your goals — recording and streaming, songwriting and demo production — and round it out with ensemble work. You’ll graduate ready for the studio, the stage, or the industry, with a musician’s ear and a producer’s toolkit.

Music Technology and a Biblical Worldview

Creating and shaping sound is genuinely creative work — and a Biblical Worldview gives that creativity meaning and direction.

Creativity Reflects the Creator

Making something new — a track, a mix, a sound — echoes the creativity of the One who made us creative. Production becomes more than technique; it's craft with purpose.

Frames your studio work as creative stewardship, not just output.

Excellence and Integrity in the Craft

Good production rewards patience, honesty, and care. Pursuing excellence — and representing work truthfully — treats the craft as worth doing right.

Forms a producer who does careful, honest work.

Technology in Service of the Message

Tools serve a purpose beyond themselves. Music technology can amplify what's good, true, and beautiful — including worship and music that points to God.

Anchors your technical skill in what you choose to create and amplify.
