Minor
An 18-credit business minor focused on managing people — organizational behavior, leadership, and human resources — for students preparing to lead teams in any field.
People-Focused
Organizational Behavior + HR Management required
Leadership Built In
BUS 404 Principles of Leadership in core
For Future Team Leaders
Ministry, nonprofit, education, business
ACU’s Management Minor is the people-focused option in ACU’s family of business-school minors. Where the Business Minor stays broad across the five functional areas and the Marketing Minor goes deep on marketing, the Management Minor goes deep on the human side of business — leading teams, building organizational culture, managing employees, and developing the kind of leadership that lasts.
The 18-credit minor pairs business fundamentals (BUS 101 Introduction to Business, ACC 223 Principles of Accounting, BUS 404 Principles of Leadership, MGT 340 Principles of Management) with two upper-division management courses (MGT 342 Organizational Behavior and MGT 440 Human Resource Management). You leave with the working command of accounting and finance any leadership role assumes, plus serious preparation for the people-management work most jobs actually involve.
Pairs especially naturally with Communication, Christian Ministries, Education, Music Ministry, Political Science, and any major where leading people is part of where you’re headed.
Apply Principles of Management
Work through the foundational practices of managing — planning, organizing, leading, controlling.
Lead With Purpose
Engage the principles of leadership that distinguish effective leaders from frustrating ones.
Understand Organizational Behavior
Study how individuals, groups, and structures behave inside organizations — motivation, communication, conflict, change.
Manage Human Resources
Build the working knowledge of hiring, developing, evaluating, and retaining employees that HR roles assume.
Read the Financial Side
Develop accounting literacy so you can read budgets, financial statements, and the numbers any leadership role eventually encounters.
A Biblical Worldview takes management seriously — both as work done among real people and as a vocation that requires the same character qualities Scripture calls leaders to.
Management as Service
At its best, management serves the people doing the work, the customers being served, and the organization's broader purposes. A Biblical Worldview reframes management not as control but as stewardship — caring for what's been entrusted to you, including the people you lead.
Equips you to evaluate management decisions by who they actually serve.
Leadership as Character
Scripture takes leadership seriously as a matter of character first, skill second. BUS 404 Principles of Leadership treats that conviction as central rather than peripheral — the kind of leader you become matters more than the techniques you learn."
Anchors your leadership development in patient character formation.
Image-Bearers in the Workplace
Every employee, contractor, vendor, and customer is an image-bearer of God. A Biblical Worldview takes that seriously — meaning the way managers talk to people, make decisions about them, and treat them in difficult moments matters far beyond efficiency.
Grounds your HR and management work in respect for the humanity of everyone in your sphere.
Management is one of the most universally useful minors — it strengthens nearly any career where leading people is part of the job.
