Lewiston, ID- On Saturday, Arizona Christian fell 83-79 to Carroll (MT) in the 2020-21 NAIA Men’s Basketball National Championship Opening Round Lewiston B Bracket. With the loss, a great ACU Men’s Basketball season comes to an end. Senior Darius Goudeau topped the Firestorm with 21 points.

- Robby Wilson and Johnson (a three pointer) connected on the first two shots of the game as ACU lead 5-0 just over a minute in
- But a five minute scoring drought proved costly for the Firestorm as Carroll moved ahead for the rest of the first half
- The Fightin’ Saints were ahead by eight before Wilson nailed a three to climb within one with 45 seconds left
- However, CC answered with a three to head to locker room up four (39-35)
- ACU forged two ties in the first three and a half minutes of the second half before CC built a 12 point advantage
- Arizona Christian fought back again and were within one or tied numerous times in the closing minutes
- With 47 ticks remaining on the clock, a basket from Bowers made the score 80-79 Carroll
- Unfortunately, the Firestorm came up empty on their final two trips down the floor
- A finishing record of 24-3 (88.9%) is by far the best winning percentage in documented ACU history

With the NAIA claiming 2020-21 as a non-season of competition for winter sports, most of the Firestorm plan to return for the 2021-22 season. They’ll be back.
