ACU Drops Tight Match To TMU

Glendale, Ariz.- In a match filled with momentum swings, Arizona Christian Women’s Volleyball came up short against NAIA No. 17 The Master’s, falling 27-25, 24-26, 25-23, 25-21 on Saturday afternoon at the Firestorm Recreation Center.

Match Notes

  • The opening eight points featured four ties and two lead changes as neither team could gain an early advantage
  • The back-and-forth continued throughout the first set, with ACU reaching set point at 24-21 before the Mustangs closed on a 6-1 run to take the opener
  • Van Wie was perfect in the opening set, recording six kills on six attempts
  • Set two again came down to the wire, reaching a 24-24 deadlock before a Reeser kill pushed the Firestorm ahead. ACU secured the set to even the match
  • In the third, Sydney Wade’s kill forged a 23-23 tie, but TMU collected the final two points to regain the match lead
  • The Mustangs broke a 16-16 tie in the fourth set and stayed in front to close out the match
  • The teams combined for 332 attack attempts, with ACU’s 165 attacks marking a season high
  • Reeser recorded a season-high 50 attacks
