Firestorm Break More Records In Tough Test At Grand Canyon
Phoenix, AZ – Arizona Christian men’s swimming split a pair of dual meets against OUAZ and Grand Canyon’s varsity squad. Despite the teams all competing against each other they were scored separately. The Firestorm once again beat OUAZ 113-75 but couldn’t keep up with GCU as they fell 216-44.
The Firestorm faced their toughest meet of the season as they took on Division 1 Grand Canyon for the first time along with rival OUAZ. The Firestorm responded well as they laid down some of there best times of the season. Freshman Kadin Van der Lingen set new school records in the 100 Free and 200 IM with the 100 Free also earning an NAIA B cut. Freshman Alois Garraux also set a new school record and NAIA B cut in the 200 Free. The Firestorm also broke the 200 Medley Relay record again finishing just one second off an NAIA qualifying time and they also broke the record in the 400 Free Relay.

200 Free: Garraux – 1:47.59 (5th/School Record/NAIA B cut)

100 Breast: Tye – 1:00.26 (3rd)
50 Free: Froese – 22.68 (4th)
100 Free: Van der Lingen – 47.49 (2nd/School Record/NAIA B cut)
200 Breast: Tye – 2:18.03 (4th)
100 Fly: Froese – 55.76 (3rd)
200 IM: Van der Lingen – 2:00.13 (5th/School Record)

After the meet coach Brad Hering stated, Very nostalgic day for me at Brophy College Prep., where I went to high school many moons ago! A relay of Coaching friends GCU, NAU and Ottawa. We are blessed to swim with these teams and see all our athletes get sharpened! “The men’s team got .57 closer to their A cut in the 200 medley relay. Alois Garraux swam a B cut and school record in the 200 free at 1:47.59, dropping 4.5 seconds! Kadin Van der Lingen placed 2nd in the 100 free achieving another B cut and ACU school record!”
