Phoenix, AZ – On Saturday the Arizona Christian women split a pair of dual meets against OUAZ and Grand Canyon’s varsity squad. Despite the teams all competing against each other they were scored separately. The Firestorm took care of business against OUAZ winning 134-34 but fell to Grand Canyon 243-32.
The Firestorm faced their toughest meet of the season as they took on Division 1 Grand Canyon for the first time along with rival OUAZ. NAU was also at the meet but only scored against Grand Canyon. Freshman Eva Garraux turned in a great performance breaking the school record in the 100 Fly while setting an NAIA B cut time and coming up just short of an automatic qualifying time. It was also the fastest time in the PCSC this year. On top of that Amani Gable, Anna Veazey and Camryn Degutis recorded their first NAIA B cut times in the 50 Free, 100 Fly and 200 Free respectively.

Thoughts From Coach:
After the meet coach Brad Hering stated, “Very nostalgic day for me at Brophy College Prep., where I went to high school many moons ago! A relay of Coaching friends GCU, NAU and Ottawa. We are blessed to swim with these teams and see all our athletes get sharpened! We picked up a few more individual B cuts. Eva Garraux was .02 off an A cut in the 100 Butterfly placing 3rd and smashing her school record at 56.65!”
Next on the schedule:
The Firestorm return to action on Saturday, January 15 as they host GCU club and Concordia in a dual meet at Brophy College Prep in Phoenix, AZ.
